Dr. Stephen Nenninger, NMD, is a licensed naturopathic medical doctor with more than 30 years of clinical experience. He earned his degree from the federally accredited National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, in 1995. While there, he developed a strong interest in microbiology and homeopathic medicine.

He has been licensed as a naturopathic doctor in Connecticut since 1995. That same year he became a New York State–licensed nutritionist, because New York does not currently offer licensure for naturopathic doctors. In 2005 he obtained licensure in Arizona, where the expanded scope of practice allowed more comprehensive diagnostics, broader diagnostic authority, and the ability to prescribe selected conventional medications when needed for difficult cases. He added a California license in 2009 to support selected long-term clients and has maintained an active practice there ever since.

Naturopathic medical training and licensure require demanding, multi-day board examinations covering conventional Western medical sciences (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, diagnosis, and prognosis) and a full spectrum of naturopathic therapies, including spinal manipulation, botanical medicine from multiple traditions, homeopathy, nutritional medicine, and other clinically useful approaches. That foundation, combined with decades of hands-on experience and thousands of patient outcomes generated almost exclusively by word of mouth, informs the practice. For the past decade the work has focused on helminthic therapy.
