Everyone that knows Dr. Alanna knows that she is a natural born healer. It is not surprising because in addition to her comprehensive education and experience she comes from a long line of "healers". Her grandmother was a well known natural healer in Italy that would apply what can only be described as ancient healing techniques. Dr. Alanna embodies that healing tradition, which is why she is such a precious partner in our goals to help others recover their health. - Dr. Nenninger
Alanna studied psychology with a focused interest in the health sciences. She graduated in 2007 with her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, and minor in Gerontology. She was always drawn to the healing arts. In 2009, Alanna graduated with her Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy, and in 2010, became nationally board certified as an occupational therapist as well as licensed in New York State. From there she worked in several fast paced settings, such as hospitals, schools, and rehabilitation facilities.
“I gained incredible knowledge and skills working within the different floors of the hospital. The ICU, ER, traumatic brain injury, physical rehabilitation, stroke, and medical/surgical units allowed me to use my skills to assist individuals to regain function that they had lost due to medical conditions. I truly was able to understand the pathology of disease, the use of intuition and critical reasoning to illuminate the path for getting patients better, and listening to the patient first and always. Understanding the person as a whole is one of the most important and critical elements of my treatment philosophy.”
The conditions she treated included traumatic brain injuries, motor vehicle accidents, joint replacements, amputations, stroke, wound care, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, cancer, and cardiopulmonary disorders. Alanna enjoyed collaborating with her clients to solve the complicated problems that they endured daily. She found creative solutions that allowed clients to regain, or learn, the necessary functional abilities to participate in everyday life activities that they found meaningful.
Always in a quest for knowledge to improve her ever evolving skills, in 2016, she decided to obtain her doctorate in occupational therapy with special emphasis and coursework in pediatrics. This coursework included specialized training in conditions such as autism, attention deficit disorders, motor delays, sensory processing disorders, and visual perceptual impairments. Her doctoral project involved the creation a program for new parents that improved their knowledge and abilities to foster proper neurological development and the assimilation of primitive reflexes in their newborns. The core belief of the program was focused on neurological and sensory system development through activities and movements designed specifically to encourage fine motor, gross motor, sensory, and oculomotor skills to flourish.
During her time in doctorate school, she began to experience the various symptoms of autoimmune problems. Acne, flushed skin, allergic and anaphylactic reactions to foods, thyroid dysfunction, recurring strep throat, and the worst of it, a severe case of mononucleosis with organ swelling that completely made her bedridden for months. It was then that she knew it was time to seek the help of the most experienced and successful Dr. Stephen Nenninger that she had heard rave reviews about. Her intuition led her straight to his office where he was able to successfully resolve all of her symptoms in what felt like with just a snap of his fingers.
An instant connection, together they started collaborating on solving the most interesting cases using the most interesting methods such as homeopathy, Bach flowers, and helminthic therapy. Alanna quickly studied, trained, and sat through many lectures on the powerful various techniques. She is fascinated by homeopathic medicines, Bach flowers, and helminths. Each are highly individualized and specific which allows these methods to do their magic and promote healing for each person on their healing journey.
